Auditors urged to adhere to professional standards

Christ The King Catholic Church, Accra
Auditors urged to adhere to professional standards

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. John Kobina Louis, Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, has urged staff of the Ghana Audit Service (GAS) to uphold professional standards in the discharge of their duties in order to enhance the pursuit of good governance and accountability.

He tasked staff to put God first in their deeds, exhibit professional standards, seek counsel from people of high integrity, be sincere and courageous in the conduct of audit. According to Fr. Louis, this would help address the financial malfeasance in the public sector and accelerate the growth of the economy.

These five important lessons he said, exhibited in 1 Samuel 8:4-7, 10:22 and Mark 2:1-12 should reflect in the daily lives of Christians to achieve progress in every facet of their lives.

Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Louis gave the advice when he delivered a sermon at the Ghana Audit Service Annual Thanksgiving Mass held at Christ The King Catholic Church in Accra to usher in the New Year. The service brought together staff from across the country to express gratitude to God for His bountiful blessings on Service in the preceding year.

The Auditor-General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo, on his part, extolled staff for their commitment to duty in the previous year and encouraged them to do more in the New Year. He said the core mandate of the Service is to protect the public purse. He therefore entreated all staff to muster the courage needed for their work.

The Audit Service Choir uplifted the souls of staff with melodious Christian hymns, Ghanaian choral compositions and a medley of gospel tunes, which elicited ecstatic applause and cheers from the congregation.

Present at the Service included Very Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell, Rev. Fr. Lazarus Anondee, Rev. Fr. Stephen Domelevo, and Deputy Auditors-General.
