Mr. Benjamin Codjoe is the Deputy Auditor- General (DAG) in charge of the Central Government Audit Department. He had also served as DAG for Performance and Special Audits Department and then Educational Institutions and District Assemblies Departments.
Mr. Codjoe, who is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and currently holds an Executive MBA (Finance) from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon, joined the Service in the early 80’s and rose through the ranks to his current position.
He has worked at various branches and Departments of the Service, including Public Boards and State Enterprises, and Banks and Other Financial Institutions branches of the Commercial Audits Department; Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Agric. and the Ghana Revenue Authority branches of the Central Government Audits Department among others.
Mr. Codjoe has undertaken a number of national assignments, notably the audit of Incurred Expenses in respect of US$200 million 8.5% Senior Incurred Notes due 2012 arranged by Iroko Securities for Ghana Telecom; Committee of enquiry into Management and Labour Grievances at Ghana Post; Inter-Ministerial Review on the Vodafone Transaction; Special Investigation into the operations of the Ghana International Airline; Financial Management and Operations audit at Ghana Broadcasting Corporation spanning the period January 2001 to March 2005; Verification and Establishment of inter-indebtedness of Volta River Authority, Electricity Company of Ghana, Ghana Water Company, Tema Oil Refinery and Government of Ghana; National Investigations Committee’s sub-committee on Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly; among others.
On the international scene, Mr. Codjoe was in March 2010, appointed a member of ECOWAS Audit Committee (a sub-committee of ECOWAS Council of Ministers) and later served as a member/rapporteur till the end of their tenure in April 2014. He led three successive teams that audited the Financial Statements of the International Maritime Organization for 2012, 2013 and 2014. He also led the team that carried out the 2016 Interim and Financial Statements audit of the International Organization for Migration. He has also taken part in technical updates and workshops organized by AFROSAI-E and INTOSAI Development Initiative seminars on ISSAIs.
He enjoys reading and preaching the Word of God. Once a while he watches some football and a game of draughts.
