Dr. Edem Emerald Sabah Welbeck

Dr. Edem Emerald Sabah Welbeck is a Chartered Accountant and Senior Lecturer with the Department of Accounting, University of Ghana Business School, with over 30 years of teaching, research and industry practice in accounting, business, banking and consulting. She currently lectures graduate and undergraduate students in private and public sector auditing, corporate reporting, sustainability reporting, and forensic.

Currently, an ardent researcher in CSR, Sustainability Performance, Behavioural Accounting, Ethics, auditing and Business Education with research publications in various reputable journals. She is the coordinator of the Mentorship and Student Services Unit at the University of Ghana business school and serves on several University wide committees at the University of Ghana Business School. A member of the Technical Committee of Education Collaborative,  a network of Higher Education Institutions in West Africa collaborating to share knowledge and enhance students’ transformative experience across Africa.

She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana serving on the Education and training committee. She is a team member of the monitoring and review team of ICA. As a financial expert, she serves on the boards of OLA Senior High School, Catholic Diocesan Health Board, Ho and Council of Mensah Sarbah Hall, focused on enhanced financial transparency and accountability. She is the Global President of Past OLA (Ho) Girls Association (POGA).  

She had a stint of experience as a School Improvement Advisor (SIA) with Ghana Education Service under T-TEL, (a non-governmental entity) assigned to assist selected Senior High Schools (SHS) in adopting the new education curriculum for SHS in Ghana.
                                       
Edem previously worked with Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) Ltd in various capacities, including accounts division, management accounts, foreign branch, and the training school and continues to facilitate various training programmes in Business and Education.

She loves to mentor the youth and enjoys teaching children at Sunday school. She is blessed with three young men.
