Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh earned  a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with Philosophy and a Master of Philosophy in Political Science with focus on Public Sector Productivity from the University of Ghana. Subsequently, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science with specialization in Public Policy Making from the same university.

He lectured at the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana and as an adjunct lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the Kofi Annan International Peace Training Centre.

He has published in both Local and International Journals in areas such as Parliament and Public Policy Making, Taxation Policy, Traditional and Modern Political Orders, Institutional Development, Judicial Politics, Elections and Democracy among others.

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh served on the Examiners’ Board, School of Social Sciences Board, Legon Hall Tutorial Board and Legon Hall Council. He also served as a Member of the Governing Board of Nyakrom Secondary Technical School for seven years and served as the Vice Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) of the Achimota School, in charge of Academic Performance from 2017-2021. He served as a member of the Academic Boards of Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping and Training Centre, and the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College for five years and two years respectively. He has featured on the World Bank Platforms, discussing youth empowerment and the development trajectories of Ghana.

Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh serves as an External Examiner of number of Universities in Ghana. He also serves as an Assessor for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. He also serves on the Board of the Ghana Statistical Service where he chairs its Human Resource Committee, a position he has held since May 2022. He is a member of the Audit Service Board of Ghana as well as the Council of the GIMPA. He serves on the Scholarship Committee of the Grace Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, West Lands in Accra.

Until his appointment as Head of the Civil Service in August 2023 by H.E. the President of the Republic, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh served as the Chief Director for the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for about five (5) years where he contributed significantly to issues of National development through stakeholder engagements with the Minority and Majority in Parliament, the media, academia, Civil Society Organizations and the general public. He also served as the Chairperson of the  Civil Service Week Planning Committee  for  four (4) consecutive years from 2020 – 2023.

He is married to Mrs. Cynthia Aggrey-Darkoh and they have three children: Andy, Ann and Andrea.
