The newly employed staff of the Audit Service are undergoing a nine-day orientation workshop in Accra. The workshop is aimed at introducing them to the structure and operations of the Service as well as the code of ethics. The new staff will help expand the operations of the Service as it plans to set up six new regional offices in the newly created regions of Ghana.

Opening the workshop, the Acting Auditor-General (Ag. A-G), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Akuamoah, urged the new employees to aim for greater laurels as professionals. He therefore appealed to the new employees to demonstrate positive attitude towards work and acquire higher professional qualifications for efficient service delivery.

In her welcome address, the Deputy Auditor-General (DAG) for Finance, Administration and Human Resource Development, Mrs. Roberta Assiamah-Appiah congratulated the 239 new staff for scaling through the selection processes. She counselled them to abide by the code of ethics and shun all forms of corrupt practices to protect the public purse in the interest of national development. Mrs. Assiamah-Appiah warned the new staff of severe sanctions against employees who breach the code of ethics or indulge in practices that bring disgrace to the Service.

Some new staff expressed their gratitude to God for the appointment and pledged to uphold integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties to enhance good governance and accountability.

Other DAGs present at the ceremony were Messrs. Benjamin Codjoe, George Winful, Ali Mohammed Zakaria and Lawrence Ayagiba. They took turns to share words of encouragement with the new staff.
