The Ghana Audit Service (SAI Ghana) participated in the AFROSAI-E 2026 Regional Communication and Stakeholder Engagement Workshop held in Kampala, Uganda, from 29 June to 3 July 2026.

The workshop brought together communication practitioners from Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) across the AFROSAI-E region to enhance their knowledge and skills in strategic communication and stakeholder engagement, while creating a platform for participants to share experiences and best practices.

Participating countries included Angola, Eswatini, The Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The five-day programme covered key areas such as strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, media relations, digital communication, internal communication, international relations, and measuring stakeholder satisfaction.

Participants gained practical insights into how the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) Uganda carries out these functions through presentations and experience-sharing sessions led by officials of the institution.

The sessions highlighted how effective communication and stakeholder engagement contribute to enhancing the visibility and impact of audit institutions.

The workshop also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange ideas on effective ways of communicating audit findings, strengthening relationships with stakeholders, and improving public confidence in SAIs.

Interactive sessions encouraged peer learning and discussions on innovative approaches to making audit work more visible, understandable, and relevant to citizens.

The knowledge and practical lessons gained from the workshop are expected to strengthen communication and stakeholder engagement within the Audit Service, enhance public awareness of the Auditor-General’s mandate.

The Audit Service remains committed to improving communication and stakeholder engagement to promote accountability, transparency, and good governance in the management of public resources.
