NUGS confers 2019 Excellence Award on Auditor-General

The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has conferred its 2019 Excellence Award for Transformational Leadership in Public Service on the Auditor-General, Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo. This award ceremony took place during the Union’s Alumni Homecoming, Awards, and Handing-Over Ceremony in Accra.

A citation accompanying the Award read, “NUGS has given immense consideration to your sterling contributions to the progressive reengineering of Public Service and remarkable transformation of public stewardship here in Ghana, and hereby honours you with this citation. We are pleased to observe in your person, an admirable spectacle of resonating attributes of good leadership and sound stewardship. Through your discussed resilience in rooting out corruption and its attendant threats, there is a rising surge of confidence in the public sector; one that is an incontrovertible reflection of the efforts of one astute character-and that is your uncompromising and unyielding self.”

It continued, “NUGS is also pleased to highlight that, your resilience in the face of pressure, together with your steadfastness and vigilance in protecting the public purse from recurrent abuse, malfeasance and unbridled suffocation and misappropriation, has become a stellar point of reference and a positive mirror for all young and rising leaders in this generation.”

The Union prayed for God to “endow the A-G with exceeding vigour and vitality of heart, to succeed in the fight against corruption.”

NUGS is the umbrella body of Ghanaian students from secondary and tertiary institutions that continually admonishes its constituents to imbibe the virtues of objectivity, integrity, and incorruptibility.

Other personalities the Union recognised included Prof. Henrietta Mensah-Bonsu, a Professor of Law, and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Education.
