The Ghana Audit Service (GAS) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public financial management through the Public Financial Management for Service Delivery (PFM4SD) program.
During a meeting with the World Bank Mission Team and the Project Coordinating Officer (PCO), Ms. Judith Kwaaku, Deputy Auditor-General and GAS PFM Sponsor, welcomed stakeholders and emphasized the collective drive toward achieving Disbursement Linked Indicator (DLI) 8.
Mr. Wisdom Komla Messan, Project Director at the PCO, highlighted the Ministry of Finance’s pivotal role in driving implementation, with the PCO serving as the central hub for coordination, monitoring, and technical support.
Mr. Patrick Neequaye, GAS Focal Lead, reported steady progress toward DLI 8 and outlined initiatives planned for 2026 to strengthen audit quality management and adherence to professional standards.
The World Bank Mission underscored the importance of repositioning GAS services to focus on value-for-money procurement audits, scrutiny of government liabilities, reinforcement of revenue audits, and improved quality of audit reports. Effective follow-up on recommendations was emphasized as critical to enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public resource management.
These efforts aim to safeguard fiscal discipline, build public trust, and ensure that audit findings translate into meaningful reforms for improved governance and service delivery.
